Sacred Mystery

Conception, gestation, and birth possess layers of meaning far beyond the physical.

Grey’s masterful fusion of detailed anatomy and transcendent elements beautifully illustrates the archetypal experience of Creation and the sacred union of masculine and feminine principles which make our human journey possible.

This image invites reflection on the many forces involved in the incarnation of a soul into the womb.

At the same time, it serves as a reminder that life is the promise of death and death is the promise of life; both as part of the natural cycle of existence and also in a metaphorical sense.

Welcoming a new baby into the family requires us to say goodbye to old versions of ourselves.

It is an initiation and also a symbolic death. Growth and letting go, a renewal that makes space for new identities and ways of being.

As a doula and perinatal educator, walking alongside women and families through these portals is an honour filled with reverence and, more than a profession, it is a profoundly humbling spiritual path.

The arrival of a baby on Earth reshapes not only the family, but also awakens hope of endless new possibilities for our planet’s future.

If these reflections resonate with you and you live in the Kootenay region of British Columbia, I have some availability for the coming months in 2025. Please feel welcome to reach out if you’d like to connect or share your journey.
